Terminato il prologo, torniamo all’oggi.

Being able to work on this suite, proposing arrangements, new and "old" music at the same time, modern, with a translation in Italian never written before (exactly as it was done once, with references - yes, to the original text but also with new parts, written on purpose to respect the melodic and rhythmic cadence and - no less important - create a topical discourse for the times when it was proposed - 2014 AD), in front of one of the Doors - ok ok, it was not exactly the big fish, but we certainly don't complain - it was really a great satisfaction, if it had been an entry in a hypothetical list of "things to do: know the Doors", well it would have a really nice check!
A very special thanks goes to Andrea Mandolesi, co-author of the Italian text and ultra-wise dispenser of literary advice.

"Lions wandering the street / Dogs in heat, angry, with foam in the mouth / A beast locked up in the heart of the city / His mother's body / Rots in the summer land / He runs away from the city / It was in the deep south and he crossed borders / left chaos and disorder / behind him ”. The literary testament written by Jim Morrison a few years before his death begins with these suggestive and unsafe tones, with the intention of making it converge in an album of his historic band: The Doors. The project collapsed almost immediately for commercial and artistic reasons, but was staged in a handful of shows, recorded in 1970 and immortalized in their most famous live document: "Absolutely Live".
After the prologue, let's go back to today. On April 24, 2014, the Italian University for Foreigners of Perugia hosted John Densmore, founder and drummer of Doors, to discuss the cause filed by the latter - and by Morrison's family - against keyboardist Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robby Krieger , about the commercial uses of the songs of the Californian band. On the occasion of this conference and in the presence of the historical drummer, the Ginsberg Collective, known to most for the theatrical and literary background present in their music, performed by staging the entire poem translated into Italian, arranging the music and providing a visionary and apocalyptic interpretation. The sound document on their page testifies to it, in eighteen minutes and little more, the raison d'etre and the ability to have masterfully and personally underlined the most evocative passages, which earned them John's applause Densmore itself.
“As much as it's something I don't like to think about, there will be a day when I will be a deceased rock star. I can only hope that in my inevitable absence there is someone with the integrity and principles of Mr. Densmore, a person who guards the spiritual legacy that our group may have left behind. " (cit. Eddie Vedder)

Perugia, the Doors drummer teaches at the University for Foreigners
PERUGIA - A rock lesson. John Densmore arrives at the University for Foreigners: the Doors drummer. The bell rings at 16.30 on Thursday at Palazzo Gallenga. It is a real "exclusive" Italian. The lesson will offer a moment of study on the process that dragged Jim Morrison's artistic legacy to court. Densmore will tell of "a victory obtained with effort and countless risks against commercial uses of the name and songs of the legendary quartet, in the belief that true music is not for sale".
At the end of the meeting, the execution of "The Celebration of the Lizard", Morrison's poetic testament, never entirely performed live and re-proposed in Italian by the psychedelic blues ensemble Collettivo Ginsberg.
