"Quattro brevi brani ci introducono al Collettivo Ginsberg, un progetto nato nel 2004 dall'incontro fra Cristian Fanti ed Andrea Rocchi. L'odierna line-up vede permanere solo il primo, autore, lirista e vocalist, accompagnato da Federico Visi alle chitarre, Alberto Bazzoli al piano, Gabriele Laghi al contrabbasso e Eugenioprimo Saragoni alla batteria.

“Mars' Sailors” da il la a questo “De La Cruel Ep” mescolando un blues-rock contorto a una miriade di campionamenti e rumorismi, riprendendo in mano la tradizione no-wave di Brian Eno e rifacendosi non poco alle trame tanto care a Captain Beefheart. “Sera” è una maestosa ballata decadente, eseguita con vocals à-la-De André, e punta i riflettori sul lato poetico-evocativo del songwriting di Fanti, contrapponendosi alla successiva “Curtell”, marziale sfuriata proto-punk in dialetto romagnolo che pesca stavolta in dosi eguali da Residents e Pere Ubu. La conclusiva “Il Presente” è forse la prova più interessante e originale, con un ambientazione ancor più austera di feedback e rumore su cui si issa a intervalli regolari un coro da chiesa, alternandosi allo straziante recital di Fanti.

Pur non essendo probabilmente così rivoluzionari come si presentano al pubblico, i cinque bolognesi si dimostrano autori di un rock destrutturato in ogni sua parte, lontano da stereotipi e luoghi comuni nonostante l'evidente devozione alla no wave dei primi Ottanta. Benché impossibile da considerare come prima prova del nove, “De La Cruel” è un breve e gradito assaggio, nella speranza di un prosieguo sui medesimi, ottimi livelli.

Four short pieces introduce us to the Ginsberg Collective, a project born in 2004 from the meeting between Cristian Fanti and Andrea Rocchi. Today's line-up sees only the first, author, lyrist and vocalist, accompanied by Federico Visi on guitars, Alberto Bazzoli on piano, Gabriele Laghi on double bass and Eugenioprimo Saragoni on drums.

"Mars' Sailors" gives the go to this "De La Cruel Ep" mixing a twisted blues-rock with a myriad of samples and noises, picking up the no-wave tradition of Brian Eno and referring to the plots so dear to Captain Beefheart. "Sera" is a majestic decadent ballad, performed with vocals à-la-De André, and focuses the spotlight on the poetic-evocative side of Fanti's songwriting, opposing the subsequent "Curtell", martial proto-punk outburst in Romagna dialect fishing this time in equal doses from Residents and Pere Ubu. The final "Il Presente" is perhaps the most interesting and original test, with an even more austere setting of feedback and noise on which a church choir is raised at regular intervals, alternating with the heartbreaking recital by Fanti.

Although probably not as revolutionary as they present themselves to the public, the five Bolognese prove themselves to be the authors of a deconstructed rock in all its parts, far from stereotypes and clichés despite the evident devotion to no wave of the early eighties. Although impossible to consider as the first test of the nine, "De La Cruel" is a brief and welcome taste, in the hope of continuing on the same, excellent levels.
